Revealing Me: Folly over Wisdom

As a dog returns to its vomit, so a fool repeats his folly. Proverbs 26: 11

Gross.... but so true. Choosing folly over wisdom is a waste of time, it draws you away from God and causes consequences.

A few days ago, I said to my husband (who is not a christian) that I believe a christian who falls, or rebels - falls much deeper then a non christian. In my own experience, it seems that when we give into sin or rebel against our Father, we do & become everything that previously we believed was wrong. It's not enough just to mess up a little, we have to REALLY screw up. And even though he is not a christian, he agreed with me! Because I am testament to that.

How is it that we can be so in love with God and then take a total different direction along the path? I remember saying to myself "I will never do ____, I would never try ____, I hurt for people who do those things but it would never be me". Couple years later I've done everything I said I wouldn't and I'm left asking myself, WHY?
We can't blame everything on Satan. I can understand that he's more interested in destroying a christian then someone who is already going to hell. But we can't always say "the Devil made me do it".

From my previous posts for this series, I have explained a few reasons why I think I fell. What stumps me the most is how I can understand and believe the Bible in every way, and then become purposefully ignorant to everything that's written!

This Sunday our pastor reminded us that Jesus IS COMING BACK. No one knows when He is coming back, do you? What is to stop Him from coming back RIGHT NOW? Are we 'ready'? Will you be able to stand in front of Him and not feel ashamed? We should be living our lives like Jesus is coming back tomorrow. Think about how this would adjust your actions. Do you have your weeks planned out? What is driving your life? Your schedules, your activities, your house, your money? What about God.

"But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. "Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to sin! Such things must come, but woe to the man through whom they come!" Matthew 18: 6-7

"How blessed is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understanding. For its profit is better than the profit of silver, and its gain than fine gold. She is more precious than jewels; and nothing you desire compares with her. Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her, and happy are all who hold her fast." Proverbs 3: 13-18

We are human, we're going to sin. However, we need to work really hard to prevent sin and to protect ourselves from sin. What areas of your life are 'on the line'. We need to keep each other accountable. We need to read our Bibles! We need to pray! We ARE at war with Satan, don't let him win.

I pray that I will never fall again, in order to avoid that, I need to grow in the Word, in God and as a Christian overall!
